TRANSPORTATION
Public buses and taxis are easily available in the city centre. Be prepared
as some of the taxi drivers are unable to communicate in English and that
is why you must make sure to bring along the hotel name card. There is
also 4 subways in Shanghai including 1 magnetic lavitation train but one
of the most important mode of transportation is bicycles for the locals.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- The Bund, located at the riverside of Huangpu River where you can view
a number of modern buildings especially the Oriental Pearl TV Tower (the
third tallest in the world), Jingmao Tower (the third tallest high-rise
in the world and where the Grand HYATT is located from 54th floor to 88th
floor)
- Jade Buddha Temple, built in 1882, the temple boasts 110,000 historical
objects and 430,000 reference pieces. The temple got its name from the
two jade statues of Sakyamuni, one seated and one reclining.
- Shanghai Museum, established in 1952, the museum is famous for its collection
of ancient Chinese sculpture, ceramics, bronze, painting and calligraphy.
