Minors Travelling To The Philippines

Posted December 28th, 2011

Royal Brunei Airlines would like to remind all passengers flying to the Philippines that minors who are under 15 years of age and unaccompanied by or not joining a parent in the Philippines are generally excluded from entering Philippine ports of entry .

However, to avoid exclusion, before arrival at a Philippine port, the Philippine Commissioner of Immigration requires all non-Philippine passport holders who are below 15 years old, travelling to the Philippines without accompanying biological parent or not joining a parent in the Philippines (unaccompanied minors) to have a Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG) approved by the Philippine Commissioner of Immigration prior to arrival of the unaccompanied minor (UM) into the Philippines.

How To Obtain The Waiver Of Exclusion Ground (WEG)?

The said WEG can be obtained from a Philippine Embassy at the originating country of the UM or could be applied for in behalf of the UM by his representative in the Philippines at the Philippine Bureau of Immigrations Office in Manila, Philippines.  The WEG should be approved by the Philippine Commissioner of Immigrations,  and should be furnished to the Immigration Duty Supervisors at the Philippine port of entry to allow the UM into the Philippines upon the minor’s arrival.  A fee of Philippine Pesos (PHP) 3,120.00 shall be imposed.

Minors Travelling With A Parent Who Bears A Different Passport and/or Nationality

For a parent and a child travelling together,  where  the child bears a different passport and/or nationality from his/her parent,  the parent is required to produce the birth certificate and/or other relevant documentations of the said child to exclude child from the requiring the above WEG.
