Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight number BI097, from Bandar Seri Begawan to Dubai on 8 May 2012 with 144 passengers on board has made a precautionary landing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam following a technical malfunction of galley catering equipment.

BI097 landed safely and without incident at Ho Chi Minh City at 23:01 local time on Tuesday 8 May 2012 and all passengers have been accomodate overnight in a local hotel.

A replacement aircraft has been dispatched from Brunei to Ho Chi Minh City that will enable passengers to continue their journey to Dubai later today at Wednesday, 9 may 2012.

The original aircraft is currently being flown back to Brunei and, following a technical inspection, is expected to be back in service within 24 hours.

Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight number BI097, from Bandar Seri Begawan to Dubai on 8 May 2012 with 144 passengers on board has made a precautionary landing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. 

An extra flight has been organised by Royal Brunei Airlines to depart from Bandar Seri Begawan to Ho Chi Minh City at 14:00 Brunei LT to transport passengers from Ho Chi Minh City to Dubai.

Passengers bound to London will transit in Dubai and travel onwards on RBA’s scheduled flight from Dubai to London.

Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight number BI097, from Bandar Seri Begawan to Dubai on 8 May 2012 with 144 passengers on board has made a precautionary landing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

BI097 landed safely at Ho Chi Minh City at 15:01(GMT +7:00) / 23:01LT and all passengers are being accomodated overnight at a local hotel.

Passengers will be collected from the hotel and transferred to the airport at 11:00 LT on Wednesday, 9 May 2012 for their onwards flight to Dubai with a delayed departure time of 13:00 LT.

System enhancements will be implemented for passengers travelling to all Royal Brunei Airlines destinations.

Royal Brunei Airlines had successfully conducted pilot operations on the new system since 17 April 2012 and will attempt to minimise these delays. Passengers are also advised to arrive at the airport early to ensure sufficient time for check-in.

Tommy Koh Huey Ming, Royal Brunei Airlines’ Head of Management Information System (MIS) stated, “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers during this time. Once the new system is in place, passengers will be able to enjoy a smoother check-in process.”

Royal Brunei Airlines has recently selected the Amadeus Altéa Suite as its future platform for Passenger Service Systems (PSS). This includes Reservations, Inventory and Airport Check-in as well as other systems in a comprehensive technology agreement. The Amadeus Altéa Suite will be fully implemented after the migration of all other airports by early May 2012.

After a precautionary landing in Mumbai, Flight BI098 to Bandar Seri Begawan  experienced a slight delay due to the aircraft requiring additional time to ensure that it is serviceable as Royal Brunei Airlines makes the safety of its passengers a priority.

Flight BI098 departed at 3:12pm Mumbai Time. Estimated time of arrival in Bandar Seri Begawan is at 11:10pm Brunei Time.

Royal Brunei Airlines is also arranging travel itineraries for passengers’ onward journey to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Singapore, and Surabaya.

Brunei International Airport is currently undergoing a modernisation programme which will improve airport facilities and allow for a smoother journey for passengers.

The updated list of surcharges for travel from Bandar Seri Begawan is as follows:

Joan Lim, Head of Commercial for Royal Brunei Airlines stated, “Although the airline must adapt to the fluctuations of global fuel prices, we will strive to provide passengers with the most competitive fares for the region.”

The rise of surcharges follows the recent sustained increase in the price of crude oil. Should there be any changes in the price of jet fuel, Royal Brunei Airlines will further review the surcharges as applicable.
